Dr. Ross is a board-certified family physician who has practiced in Maryland and Washington, D.C. She has founded three medical practices: One traditional family medicine practice, one functional medicine practice and a family medicine residency training practice. Dr. Ross has trained countless medical students and residents over her academic career. She is passionate about teaching the next generation about lifestyle medicine and the root causes of disease as well as disease prevention.
Dipti Mistry, M.D.

Dr. Mistry has been practicing full-spectrum internal medicine and pediatrics at Meritus since 2014. She joined the residency faculty in 2020 and oversees the noon conference curriculum, ER, ICU and pediatrics rotations and the family medicine inpatient service. Well-known for her organizational skills and passion for high quality community care, she became an associate program director in 2023. She has special interest in obesity medicine. Dr. Mistry cares for pediatric patients in the Residency Family Medicine Practice and attends on the Residency Inpatient Medicine service.
Helen Harrington, D.O.

Dr. Harrington taught and practiced full-scope family medicine for five years in rural communities in Oregon and Washington state before coming to Meritus Family Medicine Residency in 2021. She brought her incredible organizational skills and compassionate care to residency leadership in 2024. In addition to her administrative duties, Dr. Harrington supervises the procedure and geriatrics curricula, is a leader in the team-based care transformation of the family medicine Residency Family Medicine Practice, and attends on the family medicine inpatient service. She came to Meritus to be close to her family, but she stays because of the community of colleagues she respects who push her to grow as both a doctor and as a person.
Bradley J. Miller, D.O., FAAFP

After spending five years in a rural practice, Dr. Miller transitioned to graduate medical education in 2007. Prior to joining Meritus in 2020, he served eight years as program director at a rural family medicine residency. He has served on several national committees of the ACOFP, AOA, AODME, and ACGME and is a graduate of the National Institute of Program Director Development. Dr. Miller supervises the residency’s addiction medicine training, and continues to serve nationally as a mentor, consultant and instructor for providers and communities interested in developing strategies to treat patients with opioid use disorders. He finds joy in the challenge of creating a healthy and lasting graduate medical education department and a flourishing family medicine residency.
Catherine Feaga, D.O.

Dr. Feaga is a founding member of the Meritus Family Medicine Residency and practices full-spectrum rural family medicine, including non-operative obstetrics. She has been teaching family medicine residents since 2014. With an extensive background in integrative medicine and a holistic approach to patient care, Dr. Feaga enjoys introducing resident physicians to the power of healthy habits in fostering individual and community resilience. She is pleased to lead the program’s Osteopathic Recognition and Nutrition training and help expand each resident’s osteopathic medicine skillset. Dr. Feaga is an activist and advocate for environmental justice, women’s reproductive rights, and authenticity in medicine. She enjoys the creative challenge of growing a high quality full-scope training program with her dedicated and compassionate colleagues.

Geoffrey Sanyi, D.O.

Dr. Sanyi joined Meritus Family Medicine Residency in 2022 after completing his sports medicine fellowship. He leads the residency’s musculoskeletal medicine rotations and works with the Washington County Public Schools. He also supervises residents in the osteopathic manipulative medicine and musculoskeletal specialty clinics within the Residency Family Medicine Practice. Dr. Sanyi carries special training in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound and concussion management. He appreciates the family atmosphere at Meritus Family Medicine Residency and the meaningful connections with colleagues and residents. He is excited about growing sports medicine in Washington County.
Daniel Deaton, M.D.

Dr. Deaton is passionate about teaching in medicine. He earned the Resident Teacher Award during residency and is certified in faculty development by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM). His foci are on behavioral health, inclusive patient-centered care for all populations, and the utilization of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). Dr. Deaton is the medical director for the medical consultation team at Brook Lane Health Services inpatient psychiatric hospital, cares for his own panel of family medicine patients, and precepts in the family medicine residency practice and on the residency inpatient medicine service.

Prior to returning to his hometown of Hagerstown in 2022, Dr. Ditto practiced full-spectrum family medicine and non-operative obstetrics for nine years on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Passionate about evidence-based medicine, Dr. Ditto is an outpatient preceptor in the Family Medicine Practice, attends on the residency inpatient service and serves as the medical director of the Residency Family Medicine Practice.

After a year-long faculty development fellowship, Dr. Okuwobi served as the pre-doctoral director of the family medicine department at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. He relocated to Maryland and for nine years practiced with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians as medical director until he joined the Meritus Family Medicine Residency Program in 2019. Dr. Okuwobi serves as the primary outpatient preceptor in the Family Medicine Residency Practice.

Dr. George serves as the associate dean of Clinical Education at the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a Andlinger fellow in health policy with the Center for Public Health in Vienna, Austria, where he focused on models of care delivery. In addition, he is a clinical associate professor at Penn State College of Medicine, where he teaches coursework on the history of medicine. Dr. George has been a regular contributor to Medical Economics with a focus on population health, medical education and physician leadership development throughout the spectrum of clinical training and care delivery. He is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Denise has been employed with Meritus for more than 25 years, including years spent in the critical care setting. She supervises residents' home visit curriculum and runs the practice’s coumadin INR clinic. Her patients and colleagues know how passionate she is about listening and taking good care of them. She has received numerous silver stethoscope awards for her outstanding patient satisfaction.

Dr. O’Donoghue has worked as an outpatient family physician at Meritus since 2017 and precepts several half days per week in the Residency Family Medicine Practice. During her own residency, she held multiple leadership roles, including chief resident. She is a member of Society for Teachers of Family Medicine. Dr. O’Donoghue has had a varied career, including as a TV doc on a local morning news station, providing education and answering viewers' health questions live on air. She enjoys sharing the fun of family medicine with the residents she precepts.

Known to lighten the mood with an improvised rap, or to show up to didactics with his four-piece bluegrass band, Dr. Bonham always keeps medicine interesting. Residents routinely appreciate the infusion of fun and learning his inpatient medicine weeks provide. Dr. Bonham believes that the physician-patient relationship should always be at the core of the healthcare system. He practices inpatient adult medicine and outpatient Med-Peds in the Smithsburg, Md., farming community east of Hagerstown.

Dr. Nguyen joined the Meritus Family Medicine Residency as a surgical FMOB in 2024. Before committing to medicine, she taught reproductive health in middle schools and has completed the Stanford Faculty Development course. She enjoys expanding family medicine residents' skillset further to include obstetrics and reproductive health. Dr. Nguyen is passionate about dismantling health inequities and expanding access for marginalized populations. She advocates for comprehensive reproductive health, and culturally competent, patient-centered care. When not in the hospital or clinic, she can be found rock climbing, completing obstacle course races or tending to her house plants. She is excited to be a part of a dedicated team in growing a high quality full-scope family medicine residency program!
