Make an Incredible Difference
The Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary began over 100 years ago as the Ladies Aide Society in 1907. It transformed over the decades to become the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary in 1952 and then became the Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary in 2010.
Our volunteers give back to the community and assist with the mission and goals of Meritus Health by:
- Assisting at the information desk
- Greeting visitors in various departments
- Transporting patients
- Delivering flowers
- Delivering mail to patients
- Assisting in the gift shop, coffee shop
- Assisting in the Repeat Performance Thrift Shop
- Animal Therapy
- Assisting in the Emergency Department, John R. Marsh Cancer Center, Same Day Surgery, and spiritual care services, as well as nursing unit support and as WayFinders in Robinwood Professional Center and Meritus Medical Plaza on Crayton Boulevard
- No One Dies Alone (NODA) end of life support.
- Assisting with fundraising events
- Providing scholarship to local students
The volunteers of the Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary have provided more than 3.2 million hours of service since record keeping started 1952. Close to 200 volunteers, ranging in age from 14 to 90, currently support and complement patient care at Meritus Medical Center, Robinwood Professional Center and Meritus Medical Plaza on Crayton Boulevard. For those volunteers who prefer a nonhealthcare setting, they can assist at the Repeat Performance Thrift Shop on North Point Drive.
An active auxiliary volunteer is asked to commit to a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service throughout the calendar year and pay $5 in annual dues. An associate member of the auxiliary pays $7 in annual dues and no service hours are required.
