Dr. Berkowitz completed his medical degree at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, now Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa. He holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD. He earned a Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Columbia University and received his engineering degree at what is now the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU.
Dr. Berkowitz is board-certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, as well as in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and holds additional certification in Occupational Medicine. He has completed Post-Graduate Study and Research at the Laboratory for Molecular Biophysics, Zoology Dept., Oxford University (England), in the Structure of Fibrous Proteins (EMBO). He has also undertaken Post-Graduate/Doctoral Study and Research in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology/Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Systems Engineering (University of Texas at Arlington; George Mason University). He completed a Health Policy Fellowship with the American Osteopathic Association and a Research Fellowship with the Osteopathic Research Center, UNTHSC/TCOM, Fort Worth, TX.
