Reporting Sexual Assault

After a sexual assault, many people have mixed emotions and do not feel comfortable talking to the police. You do not have to decide right away what to do. While you are at Meritus Medical Center, a forensic nurse can collect and store evidence. In Washington County, victims have up to 90 days to notify law enforcement. You also have the option to do so anonymously. Other counties may provide similar services, and the amount of time in which a victim may notify law enforcement may vary.
